BSPT threads utilize the Whitworth thread form, designed to provide a pressure-tight fit through the mating of the threads. These threads are cut on a taper; because they are tapered, the male fitting can only screw into the companion female thread a certain distance before it jams. The standard specifies this distance as a length based on hand-tight engagement; a convenient rule-of-thumb for threaded plastic fittings is to finger-tighten plus 1/2 to One turn with a wrench. Do not over-tighten plastic threads – stress on the fitting can result in its failure.
Threaded barb adapter fittings create a safe connection, and the non-PVC, BPA-free plastic materials of which they are composed mean your liquids, consumers, and the environment will be safe from harmful chemicals.
The threads on our Eldon James adapters and fittings employ a difficult-to-break connection, so you can ensure you have all the strength and more that you’ve come to expect from other plastic fittings.
